A bit more patch prep: there are a few hundred broad beans in there acting as cover crop, and I mulched around the kale with a bit of old hay.
After only two frosts in all of December, we finally have some freezing weather and some snow in the forecast.

Here are some of the seeds I have to choose from this year; all awesome genetics. I plan to grow two AGs back to back, and one of them will be a mystery seed.

I thought I would share a photo of my germination test plants that I grew on under lights. Pretty healthy looking, all things considered. The project has a dual purpose as I am cultivating mycorrhizal fungi and Trichoderma at the same time and plan to re-use this inoculated soil for my real plants come April.

I am doing my first soil sample ever. We'll see if I learn anything or need to take any action.
Any growers who might want to advise me once I get the results, feel free to drop me an email. I will say that I try to use mostly organic/regenerative methods and therefore won't be adding a lot of high NPK value fertilizers.

I'm soaking my seeds in seaweed solution. Also a first for me. Still no results from the soil test. Does it really take over a month?

All potted up in 4" pots. After a few days (once they emerge) I will repot the best ones in 8" pots as this has worked well for me.
I tried to germinate 2 of the 2020 Paton's but only one germinated and it was pretty much dead last of all my seeds.

Beautiful sunny weather. Patch prep done, hoops up, water barrel and vine burying mix barrels all in place. There is a lot going on in my "Milpa" with broad beans, peas, and peppers already in the ground. Still to come are climbing beans, maize and many different flowers.
