Thought I should start a diary to at least show the people that gave me seeds, I tried to grow them. It was a cold wet spring. A hail storm harmed all outside plants. They were all grown on secondaries.

It is hard enough to grow a large tomato, but to have it on time for a weigh off is even harder. This was on the 5.3 MacCoy. It couldnt make it to the Gale Woods Farm weigh off. Too small anyway.

This is from 5.2 Lyon. It would have gotten third at Stillwater last year. I will have to see how long they last in the refrigerator.

This is 1367New. Its between 750 and 800 lbs. It is in my high tunnel and is my largest. Not as large or as orange as my 359Foss from last year. I couldnt get my last 359 to germinate. This is still a nice looking pumpkin.

If you go through the trouble of covering plants, there is a good chance it wont freeze. If I wouldnt have, you know we would have had frost.

The 64.2 House wanted to produce a lot of pumpkins. The first was 60lbs. After it ripened, I picked it and tried again. They would get so big then color up. Grandkids will have nice carvers. This was a Powdery Mildew magnet.

This was to be my entry at Gale Woods Farm weigh off. It has been in the fridge for 10 days. I dont think it will hold together.

I thought my rutabaga was large. The Hunts was almost three times as large. Maybe Ill paint it orange and call it a carrot. I have seeds left , so Ill probably try it again next year.
